Arabic–Albanian Dictionary, Volumes I–II: A Comprehensive Lexicographical Work

The Arabic–Albanian Dictionary (Fjalor arabisht–shqip), published in two volumes, represents the culmination of many years of teaching, linguistic research, and translation undertaken by Prof. Dr. Isa Memishi. Comprising approximately 110,000 lexical entries, including individual words, compound expressions, and phraseological units, the dictionary serves as an extensive reference resource for students, researchers, translators, and anyone engaged in the study of Arabic.

The work focuses primarily on Modern Standard Arabic, bringing together contemporary vocabulary and a substantial body of classical Arabic lexis. Alongside general vocabulary, it incorporates terminology from science, culture, literature, and other specialised fields. Its compilation draws upon major Arabic and bilingual lexicographical sources, including Al-Muʿjam al-Wasīṭ and Lisān al-ʿArab.

Albanian equivalents are accompanied, where appropriate, by semantic explanations, grammatical information, collocations, and illustrative expressions. This structure supports both practical consultation and a deeper understanding of the linguistic relationships underlying Arabic vocabulary.

The electronic edition extends the accessibility of this lexicographical resource, facilitating everyday consultation through digital search functions. In addition to searching for words and their meanings, the platform provides Arabic verb conjugations, offering further assistance to learners navigating the language's verbal system.
